Once the app is installed, open it and click ‘Register’ on the Login page.

Important to know:

• Registration will create an organisation on our system. Data Privacy rules apply: only members of this organisation with the right permissions will be able to access its data.

• You can create parent-child structures (e.g. a global team with access to country-level organisations, or a government team with access to multiple co-operatives). However, data cannot be moved between organisations once captured. Thus, we recommend that once you start collecting data, you register the organisations that would need access to the data, such as a BMU or fisher association. 

• Each organisation will automatically have one platform administrator (based on the registration details) and a demo MONITOR app user.

• You can create more MONITOR app users later through the ABALOBI Console.

• After successful registration, all login details and relevant information will be sent to you by email.

Navigate through the app menus to familiarise yourself with key features such as catch reporting and data entry.

Your organisation will be set up with the default Western Indian Ocean (WIO) species, gear and vessel lists, along with placeholder site names.

When registering with select WIO countries where default country-specific configuration is available, these will be loaded in place of the South West Indian Ocean (SWIO) default (currently available for Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa and Madagascar)

Before you start capturing catch data, you must replace the placeholder sites with your own monitoring sites, fishing sites and communities using the ABALOBI  Console. Data linked to placeholder sites cannot be reassigned later. For help, refer to the Guidance Documentation available in the Console.

You can review your species and gear list against a master list and add or remove items as needed. For new species, gears or vessels not in the master list, please submit a support request.

Once your sites, species, gear and users are set up, you are ready to begin.

• Log in with your MONITOR app user account.

• Use the app in the field to record catches, effort and related information in real time.

• Upload records directly through the app — your data will sync securely to the ABALOBI system.

• Monitor progress and review captured data through the ABALOBI Console.
